Heart Day Monday

Hello world, happy Monday!

I've had the day off work and apart from a morning run (8 miles), I've achieved nothing, nada, zero all day - though I do have some cupcakes baking in the oven (a Mr Men packet mix, that counts right?) But sometimes days like these are just what the doctor ordered! I work super hard and end each week totally shattered so sometimes I need a lovely long weekend when I can recharge. Plus there is now less than 7 weeks til the marathon so I'll take being lazy whenever I can!

Hope you're all having a nice day, here as always is some lovely Monday pics from weheartit.com!

Fitness Friday

(weheartit.com)

Hello chaps. Did you miss my blog, did you, did you?! Hmm yes, possibly not, but I had to hide for a wee moment - some 'real life' people almost spotted it, not that blogging is anything to be embarrassed by but it can seem a little 'odd' to those who don't blog! But, I'm back and if people spot it then whatever! Blogging may seem weird, working out a lot may seem weird, talking it about may definitely seem weird, but it's not weird to me and is all in good fun :) I may even start banging on about make up again, just to add to the weirdness ;)

Workout round up time!

Saturday - Rest

Sunday - Running, 6 miles, 50 minutes 3 seconds

Had planned a 13 miler, but after a terrible Saturday and a rubbish night's sleep (dentist woes - going to do a nice long rambling post about this at some point cos I've been totally put through the mill with this!) I decided to do a 6 miler instead with the hubz. Hubby had not ran for ages so happily joined me in 2 and a bit laps of our normal hilly route. Felt much better, ran away some of my troubles!

Monday - YouTube; Pilates Fit for Duty and Pop Pilates Til the World Ends

I try and get some pilates or yoga in each week and I find YouTube is without doubt the best place to find it! I tried a new pilates workout, which was ok, but really I kind of want to be shouted at and pushed a bit if the class is lead by a Navy Seal bloke! This was a bit on the gentle side, no 'sir yes sir!'

I finished off with a workout I've done and enjoyed before, Pop Pilates Til the World Ends.

Plus 4 miles walking

Tuesday - Running, 5.1 miles, 42 minutes 52

I reeeeeally wasn't looking forward to this run. Sometimes running straight after work just doesn't appeal, but once I got out there it was a pretty good workout and a decent time.

Plus 2 miles walking

Wednesday - Running, 2.12 miles, 17 minutes 10

Don't often run two days back to back, but needs must sometimes. I felt a wee bit tired but my time was only 11 seconds off my best. Plus, my shins are feeling so so good these days which is amazing considering what I've been through with them! I guess £350 spend on physios is paying off??

Plus 2 miles walking

Thursday - Rest

Dentists again. Awful, awful, sad, sad :(

Did do my 2 miles walking though

Friday - Running, 16 miles, 2 hours 41 minutes 57 seconds

I always write what workouts I do in my diary, and next to this I've wrote "I am MENTAL" :D

So, yes, this was my longest run ever ever to date in my whole live ever. A mile further than the epic 15 miles I ran last summer. I had planned to do 13 miles but thought I'd kind of almost trick myself into running longer. I find that I dread distance quite a lot but once I started running I thought I'm going to run 8 miles then turn round and run back again, almost doing the 16 miles without giving myself a chance to think or worry about it.

Trouble was, I woke up with belly problems. I'm having a lot of stress at the moment (yes... DENTISTS!) and my IBS always flares up like a mo fo when I'm sad and upset. From the get go I had terrible stomach cramps and eating my usual running fuel (home made direct fuel bites from The Thrive Diet) just made it worse. I usually eat every 20 minutes on long runs but had to stop taking on any more fuel as my belly was in such a state!

I ran the entire distance was an awful stitch which got so bad at some points I had to actually stop and stand or sit till the pain went, and I even just walked it a bit without pausing my Garmin cos I just wanted to finish!

I didn't want to quit though and once I decided on 16 miles I wanted to do the full amount. My pace was dreadful (for me - so much slower than normal at over 10 mins a mile) and I really thought I was going to puke at the 14 mile mark. I also had a little CRY in Richmond Park! (Do I cry everywhere now?! Seemingly so!)

BUT! I did it! 16 whole bloody miles! And apart from stiff quads, a headache and total tiredness, I felt fine after yesterday and today. Shins feel great too, hurrah.

I have a few more long runs before the marathon, including a 20 miler next month. But having snuck this 16 miler in the mix, 20 miles doesn't seem quite so awful.

7 weeks tomorrow is the marathon, oh lordy!!

Pancake day

Yay, pancake day! I've already had mine today, had them for brekkie rather than the usual dessert. I had the Banana Buttermilk Pancakes topped with more banana & berries from the recipe in Racing Weight.

So, lent here we come! I give something up every year and this time I'm giving up:

  • Milky tea at work
  • Sugary stuff 6 days out of 7

Not totally giving up anything, but it's not a bad effort I think :) PLUS, I've already given up the booze for marathon training so I need to keep some vices!

I am already looking forward to some easter eggs..

Heart Day Monday

Hello chaps, happy Monday! I'm pleased to report that I have my chewing ability back, and although my teeth are still very much worst for wear, I think I have found a dentist that can finish the job for between £200 and £400 quid cheaper than what I've been quoted. Which blows my mind and makes me so so happy!! This whole episode has made me realise that all this dentist stuff can require deep deep pockets and I've probably been quite lucky not to have been stung by it before! Still feeling pretty sorry for myself, I want my smile back :(

Here is a virtual smile though, from my fave, weheartit.com:

Our Valentines Day

Hello chaps. I am having a terrible terrible pain filled god awful ruddy hell it bloody sucks sort of day. I happily skipped off to see Mr Dentist today for what I thought was a routine, dull check up, only to leave sore, swollen, teary, broke and not too far off from THIS.

I can't actually eat anything solid at all at the moment so will reminist over the lovely valentines meal we had the other night when I still actually had a set of working teeth!

I got roses, of course :)

And got out my trusty ice cream and set about making a batch of pumpkin ice cream from the marvellous Ben & Jerry's recipe book

And we sat down to a simple, yet yummy starter of Mozzarella & Tomatos. This is so flipping easy to do but always tastes delish and isn't too filling.

For main, we had Chicken paillards with tomato & olive salad with prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Yum!

And for pud? Well the ice cream, like many an episode of Come Dine with Me, didn't quite set in time...

So we had Cartmel sticky toffee pud with pumpkin "custard!"

And I had my last ever drink (bubbly) before giving up the booze in preparation for my marathon. No more alcohol for the next two months!

Next stop - pancake day! Assuming I can chew again then!

Fitness Friday

(weheartit.com)

Wow, updating my Fitness Friday on a Friday for a change! Mainly cos I didn't hardly do any workouts this week ;P

I decided to have a restful week this week as my bones are aching and I needed the break. Could probably do with a bit longer to be honest but got to get back to it next week!

Saturday - Rest

Sunday - Running, 8.15 miles, 1 hour 9 minutes 15 seconds

Pretty decent run, fairly enjoyable in the lovely Richmond! I ran right along the river for 4 and a bit miles then turned on my heel and ran back again. Had a few of those magical bursts of energy when you can just peg it along even though you're super tired!

Monday - Rest

Did do my 2 miles walking though

Tuesday - Rest

2 miles walking again though

Wednesday - Recovery run, 5.11 miles 50 minutes

I think 50 minutes - forgot my garmin! But I ran my normal after work route at a super crazy pace so 50 mins is a half decent guess.

I am actually bloody sick of so called recovery runs. My legs hurt like hell running that slow :(

Plus 2 miles walking

Thursday - Rest

2 miles walking!

Friday - Rest

Was planning another 5 miles run after work tonight but my knee has been twinging and I really wanted to take it easy. Hips can hurt, shins can play up, but when I get a knee twinge I know I've got to rest! I have 13 miles to run in Sunday so want to be in good shape for it.

Did walk to and from work which was 4 miles though :)

So....a slightly dull workout week but I've loved the rest!
